Firefly - 2002

In the far-distant future, Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds is a renegade former brown-coat sergeant, now turned smuggler & rogue, who is the commander of a small spacecraft, with a loyal hand-picked crew made up of the first mate, Zoe Warren; the pilot Hoban "Wash" Washburn; the gung-ho grunt Jayne Cobb; the engineer Kaylee Frye; the fugitives Dr. Simon Tam and his psychic sister River. Together, they travel the far reaches of space in search of food, money, and anything to live on.

Firefly was a masterpiece from start to finish, it could have been even better if given the chance to flourish. There's no way that this series can't take the top spot. It's literally got everything you want in a series. -

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 1997

In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer. Buffy Summers is The Chosen One, the one girl in all the world with the strength and skill to fight the vampires. With the help of her close friends, Willow, Xander, and her Watcher Giles she balances slaying, family, friendships, and relationships.

Buffy is a childhood classic for so many of us, but whether you watched it as a kid or as an adult you can't deny the story will stay with you forever and the re-watch value of this series is off the charts. -

Grimm - 2011

Nick Burkhardt thought he prepared himself for the realities of working as a homicide detective until he started seeing things he couldn't explain. Nick's life turns upside down when his Aunt Marie reveals they are descendants of an elite group of hunters, known as "Grimms," who fight to keep humanity safe from supernatural creatures. As Nick digs deeper into her past, he realizes that he will have to shoulder the responsibility of his ancestors.

One of the newest series in this list: Grimm. It was great throughout every second, the character development was crazily good and I was pleased to see the show ended on a high note rather than overstaying it's welcome. -

Person of Interest - 2011

John Reese, a presumed dead former CIA agent, is approached by a mysterious billionaire named Harold Finch to prevent violent crimes before they happen by using an advanced surveillance system dubbed "The Machine". Their unique brand of vigilante justice attracts the attention of two NYPD officers, Joss Carter and Lionel Fusco, whom Reese uses to his advantage as he investigates persons of interest.

Person of Interest is perhaps one of the most engaging and addicting shows I've seen in a long time, I was drawn in from the very first episode and remained that way right up until the end. -

Friends - 1994

Rachel Green, Ross Geller, Monica Geller, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing and Phoebe Buffay are six 20 something year-olds, living off one another in the heart of New York City. Over the course of ten years, this average group of buddies goes through massive mayhem, family trouble, past and future romances, fights, laughs, tears and surprises as they learn what it really means to be a friend.

Friends... Do I even need to say more? I don't know of a single person who doesn't know this series and it's such a loveable show that has so much re-watch value that it's unreal. I've personally re-watched it multiple times. -

True Blood - 2008

Telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse encounters a strange new supernatural world when she meets the mysterious Bill Compton, a southern Louisiana gentleman and vampire.

True Blood was a great series for not just romanticising vampires as a majority of vampire films/tv series seems to do lately. The twists and turns always keep you on your feet and the character depth is truly something else. -

White Collar - 2009

A white collar criminal agrees to help the FBI catch other white collar criminals using his expertise as an art and securities thief, counterfeiter, and conman.

Fun, witty, and action packed. White Collar will have you falling in love with criminals, or maybe even wanting to be them. It's a great series with wonderful, loveable characters that you'll be rooting for throughout. -

Parks and Recreation - 2009

The series follows Leslie Knope, the deputy head of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. Knope takes on a project with a nurse named Ann to turn a construction pit into a park, while trying to mentor a bored college-aged intern. However, Leslie must fight through the bureaucrats, problem neighbors, and developers in order to make her dream a reality, all while with a camera crew recording her every gaff and mishap.

Parks and Rec is such a perfectly relatable and witty show that it deserves a place in this list just as much as the rest. The comedy is top notch, the characters are fantastic and it's perhaps one of the most addicting series to watch. -

House - 2004

Dr. Gregory House is a maverick physician who is devoid of bedside manner. While his behavior can border on antisocial, Dr. House thrives on the challenge of solving the medical puzzles that other doctors give up on. Together with his hand-picked team of young medical experts, he'll do whatever it takes in the race against the clock to solve the case.

House was a series I grew up with during my teens, the characters jump around so often it leaves you a little off balanced but all in all it's a fantastic show and well worth a watch, especially if you love sarcastic humour. -

Angel - 1999

Angel, a 240-year old vampire cursed with a conscience, haunts the dark streets of Los Angeles alone. But after he meets a half-demon with mysterious visions, Angel realizes his true purpose: to help those in danger with the hope that he may have a chance to redeem himself and save his own soul. With Cordelia and Doyle at his side, he forms Angel Investigations. He is soon joined by Wesley, Gunn, Lorne and Fred, and he will need all their expertise to fight the growing forces of evil, and the supernatural law firm of Wolfram and Hart.

Angel may not quite live up to it's predecessor 'Buffy' but it's still fantastic none the less, with loveable character, sparkling wit and wonderful storylines it's a show that deserves it's place in this list just as much. -
